About Us

Our Mission
At Homes for Hornbills, our mission is to protect, restore, and grow hornbill populations by constructing sustainable habitats through artificial nests. We are dedicated to enhancing forest biodiversity, raising awareness about the critical role hornbills play in our ecosystems, and partnering with local communities to preserve forests and secure a future for these endangered birds.

Founder's Story
My journey began in fourth grade on a school field trip to Khao Yai National Park, where I first witnessed hornbills in their natural habitat. I learned how these remarkable birds serve as vital agents of seed dispersal, nurturing the forest’s growth. Years later, a conversation with a neighbor revealed that rampant deforestation was pushing these magnificent creatures toward extinction. On a return visit to the forest, under the guidance of Ms. Siriwan Nakkuntod from the Thailand Hornbill Research Foundation, I saw firsthand the critical need for secure nesting sites. This transformative experience inspired me to launch Homes for Hornbills—a project devoted to developing artificial nests that protect these birds and sustain the forests they help flourish.

As a child, Proud regularly visited her grandparent’s home and would always admire the hornbill painting. While Proud’s field trip to the Khao Yai National Park inspired her to initiate Homes for Hornbills, the hornbill painting at her grandparent’s house constantly reminded her to help conserve these hornbills. Just like how paintings preserve the image of a hornbill forever, Homes for Hornbills preserves these birds in nature.
