Founder's
Story

Our founder trekking through the Khao Yai National Park forest.

When I stepped off the fourth-grade school bus and felt the damp, cool air of Khao Yai National Park for the first time, I sensed a world beyond my classroom. Our park ranger’s gentle words—“Pay close attention to what you hear”—set my young mind alight. I vividly remember the crunch of leaves beneath our feet, the rhythmic hum of cicadas, and the sight of a wounded tree with claw marks that had become a home for countless creatures, including hornbills. These birds, the “farmers of the forest,” scattered seeds and nurtured the growth of trees, weaving life into the forest tapestry.
Years later, during a spring break visit, a conversation with my neighbor shattered my complacency. I learned that deforestation was threatening the very trees hornbills depended on for nesting, pushing these majestic birds toward the brink of extinction. I couldn’t remain silent. I returned to Khao Yai with renewed determination, joined by passionate conservationists from the Hornbill Research Foundation and a dedicated team from Payai Creation. As we trekked through the forest—dodging a snake that slithered across our path and sharing whispered warnings about a lurking elephant—I felt the pulse of nature in every step.
In a small bird hide, beneath a humid canopy, I peered through binoculars and caught sight of a hornbill’s delicate beak emerging from its nest. That moment crystallized my mission: to create sustainable artificial nests that honor nature’s design and secure a future for these vital birds. Habitat loss is not just an environmental nicety.

It’s a call to action. One that is critical to protecting not only nature and the animals and plants whose lives depend on our decisions, but one that will affect all of us humans. Imagine for a second how devastating a world without natural habitats, even if humanity survives the catastrophe, would be. Ruminate on how we can choose to steer the course of the future, whether our mornings will be met by the sun that shines through clear skies or one stubbornly fogged with smog, with the decisions we make.

I invite you to join our cause to help transform innovative ideas into life-saving solutions and to be part of a movement that adds another critical point of action for both humanity and nature to flourish together.
